Go Green! With Your Car.
In recent times, more teenagers are getting their licenses at age 16, and these licenses usually come with cars. Although obtaining your license and gaining the freedom to roam about without depending on your parents is exciting, getting the wrong car or using it in the wrong way can lead to pollution and an environmentally unsafe and unfriendly car. Having a car like that means spending more money fixing it, buying gas, and so on. Here are a few ways to make your car eco (and pocket) friendly.
1) BUY A HYBRID
If you haven’t gotten a car yet test- drive a hybrid first. Hybrid cars produce cleaner emissions, are cheaper, and will save you money on gas. (Also they happen to be very cute!)
2) DRIVE GREEN
Maybe you received your grandma’s old station wagon instead of the Prius you wanted, how do you make it green? Driving a not-so- new car may not be a dream come true, but you can make it eco- friendly by avoiding sudden starts and stops and staying within the speed limit (occasionally, of course) Also try minimizing random road trips, and plan on doing multiple errands in one trip.
3) A/C
Although its really hot now, staying cool in a car doesn’t necessarily mean blasting the air conditioner on maximum. Try alternating between your A/c, fan, and rolling down you windows to get some fresh air. Also park in shaded areas to keep your car cool.
Reducing your carbon footprint is essential in helping the environment and following these tips will not only help you save money and gas, but also keep the environment cleaner.
