Stylish Solutions for Shorter Hair

Short hair doesn’t have to be scary. Just because you cut your tresses above your shoulder shouldn’t mean you have limited hair styling options. Here are some of my favorite options for shorter hair.

Headbands & Barrettes

Take a cue from Blair Waldorf and invest in some outrageous headbands. They are one of my favorite ways to spice up any outfit. Start with basic metallic colors and move into experimenting with prints and non-neutrals.

Barrettes are another stylish yet functional way to embellish your every day look. Pull a section of hair from the front section of the dominant side of your part and secure it to the side with an over sized bow or embellished barrette.

Bobby pins

Never underestimate the power of a few bobby pins. Once you have mastered the proper techniques to make sure they stay put where you pin them, you have unlocked a world with endless styling possibilities. One of my favorites is simple- to pull back long pieces on each side and pin them back. It will mimic the look of “half up” even if your hair is too short to reach all the way back.

Don’t let length discourage you – its easy to make do with shorter hair! What are some of your favorite ‘dos for girls who rock shorter cuts?

  1. This post definitely makes me feel better about yesterday’s impulsive haircut. I asked for them to take off more than I was willing to part with, and they chopped off more than I even asked, so right now I am looking for ways to make myself feel more feminine with my shorter hair (it’s not extremely short, but I’m used to it being much longer, so I’m still getting used to it). Great post!
