Gossip Girl Season Premiere Recap
Get excited people because it is finally time for the return of all of our favorite fall shows, including the CW hit, “Gossip Girl”! I have watched the show from the start and have dealt with the ups and downs. Although the show keeps me coming back for more, I felt the story lines getting a little dull last season. However, the season finale blew me away. I was unsure of how I would feel about the season premiere. Luckily, I found myself enjoying it.
I plan to discuss what happened on the show, so if you have not watched it I would stop reading now.
This season started off with the infamous duo, Blair and Serena, in Paris. Serena is seen with numerous guys while Blair has taken to Paris alone. Blair hasn’t gotten over the Chuck drama just yet (and who is to blame her! I was very eager to see what would happen to him). Serena encourages Blair to date around and enjoy herself. Meanwhile, Serena is hiding the fact that she also got accepted to Columbia and will be attending the same school as Blair. Ultimately, Blair finds out from someone else and is outraged that Serena is trying to steal her spot light. Personally, I agree. I think Serena needs to get a life of her own. However, I know that sending Serena to Columbia instead of Brown is a guaranteed way to keep her in New York and involved with everyone’s drama.
I was also bummed that they didn’t really touch on Chuck. I mean, a few of the characters (like Lily) were notified that something was not right, but I wanted to know what happened right away! I’m assuming the writers knew everyone would be anxious to see what happened to Chuck Bass and that is why they didn’t show him until the end of the episode. Apparently, he is ashamed of the life he has lead so far and, therefore, is trying to change his identity and become lost to the people in his old life.
The other twist of the episode was Dan revealing he had a son with Georgina. Obviously, the audience is supposed to feel that something is not right with this story (since Georgina is a notorious liar and was acting suspicious the entire time). Although I know I am falling prey to the writers’ tricks, I still see myself wondering, “What is Georgina hiding!?” I guess that is part of the genius behind “Gossip Girl”. They always keep you wondering what is coming next.
Also, I, for one, am so glad NOT to see Jenny on the show any more! I was very annoyed with her by the second season. I just hope she doesn’t return.
Finally, Nate’s new mystery woman has a shrine of the gang in her apartment? I am also interested to see where this will go. I am very thankful that the show has finally added some new characters. I feel like the current cast keeps hooking up with each other. I am ready for some newbies to enter the scene!
What did you guys think of this week’s episode? What do you think will happen this season??
