Spend Your Summer Car-less!
With the warm summer months in full swing, it’s the perfect time to get up and get going! Instead of always grabbing for the keys, use this wonderful weather to exercise a few other means of transportation. There are so many great reasons why it is a good idea to cut down on the time you spend in the car. It’s not only great for the environment but it will also save you some money with the ever rising price of gas. Maybe it’s time to explore some other options for the beautiful summer months?
On two feet: Yes, the easiest mode of transportation there is… walking! If you’re heading to a store in town that isn’t too far away, why not ditch the car break out those cute summer shoes you’ve been dying to wear? If your friend lives on the way to your destination, shoot them a text and ask if they’d like to join in on your little adventure. Walking is a fun way to spend time together and fit exercise into a busy schedule. Plus, maybe you’ll work up a sweat and be able to jump in the pool when you get home!
On two wheels: It’s time to put your first grade bike lesson to the test and take it to two wheels! If you’re looking to get somewhere around town that’s not a comfortable walking distance, the bike is always a great option. An adorable and fashionable type of bike you can buy is called the Beach Cruiser. The wide seat makes the whole ride extremely comfortable and the bike looks great with a cute basket attached to the front. Check the routes: Instead of driving to the mall, why not catch the bus? The actual ticket might even be cheaper than the money you would spend on gas to get there. Plus, there’s no hassle when it comes to the busy parking lot! Walking and riding bikes provides an easy way to get around as well as some great exercise during the summer months. It is a great option if you want to get some quality time outside, plus, no fighting for parking spots! Although planning your errands around a bus route can be a little annoying, after a few days of using the public transportation you’ll be used to it!
