Beverly Hills 90210 vs 90210

Beverly Hills 90210 vs 90210

By Rithanie Gonzales

I know that I was pretty young watching the original Beverly Hills 90210 but even back then the drama was way too good. While watching the 2.0 version 90210, some characters seem to arise in the same way. Let’s take a look at the characters back then compared to now. I still love the drama and 90210 now is definitely something to be watched!

Brenda & Brandon vs Annie & Dickson: Brenda and Brandon oddly looked too much like they could be a match made in heaven. Though we have to admit that Brenda created the most drama back then. Brenda created all the tension with Kelly trying to compete and win over Dylan. Dylan (present day Ethan/Liam) our heart throb always had a thing for Kelly just like how we secretly wish Annie would get back with Liam. Annie being the talent that she is, showing off her acting and singing created a lot of tension back then between the “it” girls in high school. Weird, that we see these two in 90210 as Brenda is directing a play and Annie has to take over Adrianna’s part. Brandon back then did not have much of an impact other than trying to chase after Kelly and being a fun guy in the show always there to support his friends. Brandon, like Dickson is always there to support his friends. Yet, he needed the most support in the latest season after getting over his drug addiction. I have to say that these brother sister duos are unstoppable. They are always there to bicker, support and stand up for their family.

Naomi: Naomi Campbell is her own character though there are a lot of resemblances of Brenda in her. Brenda was the all time trouble maker between friends. Don’t we know that Naomi can manipulate anyone into thinking that her way is always right. She can exile anyone and is as convincing as any lawyer. In the earlier seasons of 90210, the quarrel Naomi and Annie had over Ethan definitely mimicked the one Brenda and Kelly had over Dylan. Later, Naomi evolves into her own power and has love issues of her own.

Liam: The handsome heart breaker with the bad boy attitude. Liam had kept so many secrets in the past about his family and where he came from. He had a brother from another, his mom has a horrible boyfriend who never believed in him and took all the money, and of course not having anywhere to live. Liam like Dylan bounced in and out of the television show. Sometimes he’s here, sometimes he’s there. He is always on the go and took every opportunity to leave. Liam went to sea and Dylan rode away on his motorcycle. Did I mention that Liam also rides a motorcycle? Even if the love between Dylan and Kelly was a bit happier who is to say it won’t all turn around between Liam and Annie? I hope Liam’s model behavior is swept clean and he really sees how much Annie cares for him instead of his lying hit and stay girlfriend right now.

Silver: Silver is Kelly’s sister! What a great tie in to the show even though Kelly later leaves the show after their mother dies. Silver is her own story. She definitely has issues with trust which Kelly passed down to her from Beverly Hills 90210. She takes after her sister though from trying new guys. Since Silver did start from Dickson to Navid to her teacher and now who? Silver is an emotional mess but now her friends mean more to her, so I wonder how her character will change being single.

There are so many more characters from 90210 that mirror Beverly Hill’s 90210′s characters. If I were you, watching Beverly Hills 90210 would not be a bad idea. Get your girls rent the seasons and have a good time seeing where the drama first started. Enjoy!
