A Look Into “The Hunger Games”
May the odds be ever in your favor. And in our favor they are for what is about to hit theaters in less than a month! That’s right, the countdown to this highly anticipated movie is officially under a month for the March 23, 2012 premiere!
For all of you that haven’t read the books, I won’t spoil anything, but you probably should have already read them by like yesterday! Get on that – now! Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games has been turned into a movie, one that I think will not disappoint. The story is set in the future where a boy and a girl from each of the twelve districts of the country are set to play for their lives in the Hunger Games put on by the Capitol. Katniss and Peeta are the two from District Twelve to play in the games and we follow their story as to how they strive to survive.
The casting for this movie was done so perfectly I don’t think anyone could have done a better job. First off, Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen was a brilliant choice. She is exactly what I pictured this character to be like and I think she will do a phenomenal job in the role. Liam Hemsworth as Gale was also a great pick. Definitely a great looking, rugged guy that Katniss would fall for. I also love Effie Trinket’s character and casting Elizabeth Banks in this role could not have been any more accurate. In the promos her hair and make-up transformation is remarkable and I can see her as a great star in the movie.
Newcomer Josh Hutcherson is set to play the loveable role of Peeta, Katniss’ counterpart from District 12. I honestly haven’t seen or heard much about this guy, but I figure he must be good since he is cast with all these outstanding actors and actresses. Only time will tell!
Then there are the veteran actors that I think will prove to be just as great in the film. Stanley Tucci is an amazing actor and I highly doubt he will be any different in this film as Caesar Flickerman. Once again in the previews the hair and makeup department were outstanding in transforming him into character. Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss’ mentor, should prove to be a great addition to the film as well. I cannot wait to see him as Haymitch!
