Five Trends for 2012 Summer Weddings

Five Trends for 2012 Summer Weddings
By Sarah Smith

Weddings planned to take place in summery paradise promise a sunlit, luminous ceremony with a cozy moonlit reception. If you are attending a wedding this summer, or detailing your July/August ceremony, here are some bridal fads to be unveiled this season.

Put a Ring On It
Say bye to platinum, rose gold is a must when it comes to selecting an engagement ring. Drop a hint to your fiancé!

A Glam Bridal Party
Many brides want their bridal party to look uniform, but why not stray from the norm and provide a selection for your bridesmaids? Pick the color and fabric of their dresses but then leave it to them to decide the cut and look. This will make your bridal party look unique and allow them to feel comfortable in the style dress that best suits them. Metallic is still very much in for weddings, so tell your bridesmaids to stick with silver, platinum or gold when selecting heels. Again, leaving them with the freedom to pick out their own pair in your color will add to the uniqueness of your line of bridesmaids.

For the Pew
We all know that the bride is the only one in white, a rule inviting wedding guests to dress in color! Shift dresses are great for this occasion because they are high cut yet very fashionable, an appropriate look for a guest. Muted floral dresses play up a romantic wedding and will leave you looking like a very eligible bachelorette at the reception. If you are attending a city wedding, think high fashion. Voguish bold colors and clean lines are the key to a memorable formal outfit. If you are attending an intimate garden wedding, florals and watercolor patterns are very suitable. Finish off any outfit with a sophisticated clutch or small purse to hold your essentials in, but avoid oversized bags. Remember to keep your outfit classy and subtle, so you don’t distract from the bride’s big day!

Top Summer Wedding Color Pallets
According to “The Knot”: Papaya & Olive (Groomsmen in papaya-colored ties to match their khakis) and Red & Pool (Bridesmaids in light blue with coral accessories) are both trendy color combinations for tying the knot this season.

Say Yes to the Dress
Strapless is losing its luster on bridal gowns lately. Stylists predict summer wedding gowns with unique necklines and lots of texture. Lace, ruffles, and lots of dimension, according to “She Knows Weddings.” The vintage gown trend is waving in for summer also. Many brides will be hunting for a vintage dress to revamp and make their own. According to “She Knows Weddings,” some brides will also incorporate a second reception dress into their budget. “After the ceremony and the grand entrance, the bride changes into a short party dress—white, lacy, beaded and high-end so that she still looks very much like the star. Marchesa is known for these short dresses.” Nancy Aucone of The Wedding Salon of Manhasset said. Ornate detailing paired with vintage style gowns will be a feature seen at many fashion forward summer weddings. Modern will also be very in. “She Knows Weddings” also spills that airy, light fabrics like chiffon and tulle that has texture and movement that is more form fitted is an in. Updos are out, long loose locks are waving in.
