How to Dress to Impress (Men)
By Sarah Smith
Many women are fooled by the myth that men like revealing, skimpy clothing. Women think they love plunging necklines and sheer cutouts, and most of all tight-fitting fabrics. When in fact, a majority of men will tell you they like a woman dressed comfortably and classy. Men love wondering what is underneath clothing; it intrigues them and has them imagining what your figure looks like without all the layers.
Lipgloss Culture had a lot to say on the topic, spilling that men love when women look good but casual and comfy. You may be thinking, “how can a oversized sweater appear sexy to men?” Well, that’s just it…it doesn’t. Men like a happy compromise between too-tight-to-breathe clothing and extra-large attire. I will introduce you to some wardrobe pieces that men will love to see you in that fit this happy median of not too small, yet not too big.
Tight skinny jeans–men adore them. The perfect pair will hug your booty and suck in your legs, making you look even more slender than you really are. They look great with heels, sandals, or knee-high boots (all footwear that men also love). Jeans are always casual and comfortable, yet you can dress them up to be much more fancy than they really are.
Instead of flaunting cleavage, try baring your shoulders. Men report that they have a weakness for off the shoulder shirts. That bare skin will leave their minds running wild, while you look refined and elegant. Remember: less is more. Revealing less of your body through your clothes will actually fascinate men. So next time you head out, go for the shirt that shows off your back and shoulders as opposed to your chest.
The little black dress is considered a must-have staple in a woman’s wardrobe, and men seem to agree. This dress is flattering, slimming and s-e-x-y. If at a loss for a first date outfit, you are sure to be a smokeshow in a LBD.
With summer here, men will spill that they like a woman in sandals. Save the flip-flops for the beach. We’re talking strappy, stylish footwear. Steer clear of gladiator style, go for a more basic shoe with some detail. Make sure to always sport a fresh pedi when exposing your toes.
Men love bold colors on the women that can wear them well. Be sure to find the right shades for your skin. Chances are if you like it, he will too. Men claim that they are fond of neutrals on women, but always open to bright hues.
As we near the peak of summer, begin to dress in a way that flatters your figure and doesn’t show too much skin. A little revealed goes a long way. Don’t bare it all, and you’ll have many dates to thank for it.
