The Best Sunglasses For Your Face Shape
By Danielle Lawrence
Choosing sunglasses isn’t always the easiest task. Although many styles may look great in the store, they may not look best on each face shape. Especially if you decide to invest in a nice pair, you should make sure that you find shades that are best for you. On the other hand, even if you only want to spend $10, you deserve the perfect fit.
For heart shaped faces, styles that draw attention downward are ideal because they add width to the lower part of your face. With that said, the bigger the better, but you should try and avoid anything that sits too high and wide. If you’re not into large frames, round edges can soften the broad upper part of your face and look just as great.
If you’ve got a Paris Hilton look, your square shaped face can be complimented with playful, round shades that will soften your strong features. Your goal should be to stay away from hard angular lines that may cause you to look a little too fierce.
The cat-eye look is back in season and perfect example of something fun and funky. Since round faces have fuller cheeks, frames that make your face look longer and thinner are best. Try out angular sunglasses and horizontal styles in order to sharpen your shape and add some extra length with unswept frames.
Celebrity stylist Robert Verdi suggests choosing a style where the arm of the sunglasses connects at the top of the frame. Those with oval faces have it the easiest because they have balanced proportions. Therefore, they can usually get away with many different styles.
In the summer, you can play with colorful big shades and in the fall dark lenses and angular frames could work just as well with a leather jacket or a navy trench coat. No matter what your face shape, in order to keep your frames looking top notch, avoid getting your finger prints everywhere and always use a case to prevent the lens from getting scratched.
