How to Get Over First Day Jitters
The first day of school is only around the corner. Before you know it, you will be kissing your summer goodbye (and saying goodbye to late nights and long afternoon naps!). It’s time to get back into the groove of things. You have your backpack, all of your school supplies and textbooks. You are prepared—at least academically. Whether you are going back to your high school or entering the threshold of college, the first day is always nerve wracking. Here are some tips to get over first day jitters.
Eat a good breakfast. Food is brain power. With a healthy breakfast, your day is guaranteed to start off on a bright side. Try some eggs, fruit or waffles. Drink a glass of orange juice or milk. Having a full stomach helps your concentration and calms down the nerves.
Dress comfortable and confident. On your first day, you want to look your best. Wear outfits that flatters your assets. Avoid clothing that is too tight or too loose. Be comfortable. Strut down the halls with your head held high and jitters under wraps.
Smile! Put on your friendly face. Remember the saying first impressions are everything? Well that applies here. Look as if you are interested to learn and eager to meet new people. If you are nervous, do not let the emotion show. Leave all your worries at the door and open up your mind and ears on the first day.
Strike up a conversation with someone. Getting lost on your first day is normal. We all have been there. Ask someone to help you find your way. Engage in a friendly conversation as you walk to your class. Ask them how their summer was. Add them to your Facebook or follow them on Twitter or Instagram. Making friends is important and also getting to class on time is a must.
Try these tips and your first day will run smoothly.
