Five Web Series to Watch
Most people think of web series as being poorly produced TV shows but that is no longer the case. Now there are more and more shows that have the same producers and actors that frequent your on-air shows becoming involved in web series. If you finding yourself with no time for TV this summer give these bite-sized TV shows a try.
Dating Rules from my Future Self
In this comedic web series Lucy starts receiving unknown texts, which she finds out are from herself, ten years in the future using an app to communicate with her present-day self. With help from her future self, Lucy begins to successfully navigate through the dating world, by making better decisions this time around. The show stars Shiri Appleby (Roswell and Life Unexpected), Taylor Kinney (The Vampire Diaries), Bryce Johnson (Pretty Little Liars), Alison Becker and Mircea Monroe. The Lake
From executive producer Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210) comes The Lake, a show about four families who have spent their summers together on Lake Eleanor but when a new girl comes to spend her summer at the lake with her aunt the dynamics are shifted from years past as new friendships are formed, new relationships, new scandals and of course, loads of drama. Burning Love
This web series creates a spoof on dating shows that frequent the television airwaves. This scripted show has the same premise as The Bachelor but uses famous comedic actors to create a parodied version of ABC’s hit show where fireman Mark Orlando fights to find the love of his life. The show stars Ken Marino (Party Down) as Mark and features cameos by Jennifer Aniston (Friends), Malin Akerman (The Heartbreak Kid), Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Noreen DeWulf (Anger Management), Ryan Hansen (Party Down), Ken Jeong (Community) and more.
Rockville, CA
From executive producer Josh Schwartz (The O.C.) and Alexandra Patsavas comes a music-filled romantic comedy that is set in a club in Los Angeles. Rockville, CA looks into the lives of 20-something year olds who frequent the club and partake in witty banter as they listen to indie bands like Phantom Planet, Passion Pit, The Kooks, and more. The show stars Alexandra Chando (The Lying Game), Andrew J. West (Greek), Matt Cohen (South of Nowhere) and Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars).
