Just about everyone has picked up a magazine at the grocery store because the celebrity on the cover interested them. People love celebrities. They provide a certain level of mystique with their fame that regular people want to be involved with. At the same time, people also like to know that their favorite celebrities are also human beings. A part of what makes celebrities so grounded is their personal lives: marriages, divorces and children.

These children can provide a connection from the celebrity to the rest of the world. Not only that, but celebrity children are interesting. They expose a different side of the celebrity parent. Here are just a few famous children and their relevance:

Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox Jolie-Pitt: People love the Jolie-Pitt clan as an extension of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. To see the parents adopt children from a foreign country was a big deal when it first happened. It was a surprise to see them with children because of all the press surrounding the two, however, Brad and Angelina have managed to finally stray away from their love triangle and become loving parents. They also love being parents, and they expose all their children to the different cultures they have come from.

Suri Cruise: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter. This is an excellent case of how a child can shine some spotlight on the famous parents. As a result of the recent divorce between Tom and Katie, Suri has allowed people to see what the two are doing and how they are reacting.  It is being reported that Katie is still walking around with Suri, and despite the divorce, Tom and Katie are remaining civil for their daughter’s sake.

Apple Martin: Daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. In edition to having famous parents, Apple played a large role in the trend of celebrities giving their children unusual names. People became addicted to how the new children would be named. Some of these celebrities include Courteney Cox and David Arquette’s baby Coco and Nicholas Cage’s child, Kal-El.

Blue Ivy Carter: Baby of Beyoncé Knowles and Shawn Corey Carter (Jay-Z). Similar to Suri, Blue Ivy helps  a lot of people get information on Beyoncé and Jay-Z, but this is less about fact finding and more about keeping up with what is happening. Beyoncé and Jay-Z are huge stars, and people just want to know what is happening in their lives. Blue Ivy is a big piece of that. Everyone is getting a chance to get a glimpse of some of her famous parents’ lives.   

Readers and entertainment lovers ultimately just love their favorite celebrities. They want to be a part of the world of gossip and entertainment, and keeping up with celebrity children is a huge part of that.
